How to Find Your First Client

Two People sitting near the table showing to Free Template Ripped Paper

Today we will talk about how to get your first photography, videography or design client. We will share one tip that has proven to work for us and hopefully will do the same for you!

If you are reading this blog it means only two things either you are just starting out in the creative field or you are struggling to reach new, potential clients. Don’t worry. This one tip will help you out to get you started!

The secret that worked for us is just a simple message for brands through Instagram DM’s. Brands that you truly like and where you see that your work could fit. Sounds easy? It is! You just need to be unique and spend a lot of time messaging a bunch of brands. Because nowadays, companies around the world receive thousands of ideas weekly presented by different people. That’s why you want to make sure that your message stands out from the rest and, most importantly, leaves them wanting to go to the second step and meet you in a Zoom room.

Whether you’re pitching a new project or simply looking for brands to discover your portfolio, this template will help you out:

A Free Template To Send Out For Brands

Hi,

I hope this message finds you well!

I am a commercial videographer who specialise in short product videos (insert who you are and where do you specialise). I have been checking your Instagram and I absolutely love your products!

Currently, I help brands to level up their visuals through outstanding product videos.

Please find attached my portfolio below. I would love to work with you and arrange a time to meet you and discuss any potential collaborations.

Kind regards,

Here you go, now you have it. Just before sending it out, do your research of brands that you want to approach, maybe not the biggest like Nike or Mcdonalds but understand who would be interested in your services at your experience level and simply copy and paste this template to message them.

Of course, you will want to customize this template in your own way to fit your needs, but don’t go over 100 – 150 words. Because nobody has time to read long and boring intro messages. Make it quick and unique, to fit your style. Hopefully, it will help you to get that first client. If you won’t get any response in five business days – write a short follow up email. We wish you GOOD LUCK on landing your FIRST CLIENT!

  To sum up:
